How to Connect Google Search Console to Grok Bot

Connect Google Search Console to Grok Bot with SearchConsole.ai. Add the MCP server, approve Google access, and check your website's search data.

Automatable now Beginner

To connect Google Search Console to Grok Bot, add the SearchConsole.ai MCP server. Then approve access with your Google account. Grok Bot can use the connection to read your website's search data.

You can ask about clicks, impressions, search queries, pages, and indexing. SearchConsole.ai reads the data from Google Search Console. You do not need to export a spreadsheet or create a Google Cloud project.

MCP means Model Context Protocol. It lets an AI client use tools from another service. OAuth lets you approve account access in your browser.

Quick setup: Open a Grok Bot chat. Paste the setup recipe below. Approve the connection in your browser. Then ask Grok Bot to list your Search Console properties.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Access to Grok Bot. Check the official Grok Bot setup guide for account requirements.
  • A Google account that can open your website in Google Search Console.
  • Permission to add an MCP server if your team manages connected apps.

A property is the website or website section that you select in Search Console. The connection uses the properties that your Google account can access.

If you cannot open the property, ask its owner to give you access. Google explains Search Console users and permissions.

Step 1: Open a chat in Grok Bot

Open Grok Bot and select the Bot that will help with your website. Start a chat about that website.

Grok Bot can add an MCP server when you give it the server URL. See the official instructions for connected apps.

You can also open the SearchConsole.ai setup page and select Grok Bot.

Step 2: Paste the SearchConsole.ai setup recipe

Copy this recipe into the Grok Bot chat:

Add a user-level remote Streamable HTTP MCP server named searchconsole-ai. Use this server URL: https://searchconsole.ai/mcp. Authenticate it with OAuth in my browser. Use SearchConsole.ai to list all Google Search Console properties I can access.

The connection must use these settings:

Setting Value
Server name searchconsole-ai
Server URL https://searchconsole.ai/mcp
Transport Streamable HTTP
Authentication OAuth

When Grok Bot asks you to approve the configuration change, check the server URL. Then approve the change.

You do not need to give Grok Bot a Google API key. SearchConsole.ai manages the Google API connection.

Step 3: Approve Google Search Console access

Follow the sign-in link or connection card that Grok Bot shows.

  1. Open the authorization page in your browser.
  2. Select the Google account that you use for your website in Search Console.
  3. Approve read-only Google Search Console access when Google asks.
  4. Check the website list if SearchConsole.ai shows it.
  5. Select Yes, continue only if your website is listed.
  6. Complete the remaining authorization steps.
  7. Return to the original Grok Bot chat.

SearchConsole.ai requests this Google permission:

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly

Google defines this permission as read-only Search Console access. The connection does not give your Google account access to additional properties.

If your website is missing, select the option to choose another Google account. Use the account that can open the website in Search Console.

Step 4: Check the Grok Bot connection

Send this request in the same chat:

Use SearchConsole.ai to list my Google Search Console properties. Show each exact property identifier and its permission level.

Check that your website appears in the result. Google's property list API returns the sites and permissions for the authorized account.

For example, Google can return these property identifiers:

  • sc-domain:example.com for a domain property.
  • https://www.example.com/ for a URL-prefix property.

These are examples. Use the exact identifier from your result in later requests. If you have several properties, tell Grok Bot which one to use.

Step 5: Ask Grok Bot for a search performance report

After the property list works, request a small report. Replace PROPERTY_IDENTIFIER with the exact identifier from the list:

Use SearchConsole.ai for PROPERTY_IDENTIFIER. Compare the last 28 complete days with the previous 28 complete days. Use Web search data. Exclude incomplete recent dates. Show the exact start and end dates. Report clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position. Identify the pages with the largest click decreases. Show the data that supports each finding. State any data limits. Suggest three next actions.

Click-through rate, or CTR, is the percentage of impressions that produce a click.

You can then ask Grok Bot to check a page's queries or inspect a specific URL. For a larger report, follow the AI SEO audit guide.

Google's Search Analytics API returns top rows. It does not guarantee all data rows. Ask Grok Bot to state these limits when it explains your results.

Fix common connection problems

Problem What to do
Grok Bot cannot find SearchConsole.ai tools. Ask it to check that the server URL is https://searchconsole.ai/mcp. Complete authentication if it is still required.
The sign-in page did not open. Use Reopen on the connection card if available. Complete sign-in and return to the chat.
Your website is missing. Open Search Console with the same Google account. Confirm that this account has access to the property.
Your team blocks the connection. Ask your administrator to allow the SearchConsole.ai connection under the team's app policy.
The report has no search data. Check the property, dates, search type, and filters. An empty report does not always mean that authentication failed.

Grok Bot's connected app instructions explain authentication cards and team restrictions.
